The Pittsfield Public Library is very excited to invite local PreK through 2nd grade students (homeschoolers welcome!!) to a new program called “Roomies and Zoomies.” This new program is funded by a recent King Foundation grant to connect MCI students, particularly international students, to local families and children to share their native language and culture and learn about small town Maine customs–all while reading children’s books together.
The MCI students will be our “Readers” and the PreK-2nd graders will be our “listeners.” Participants must be able to meet in person OR virtually at least once a month. (The dates and times are flexible.) Ipads can be borrowed for those wanting to meet virtually. Each month everyone will receive a free book and a snack pack through the library. Our first official meeting will be on August 26th from 6:30-8pm at the Park’s Gymnasium on the MCI campus. Free bags, books and snacks will be provided! Please register here on this form by August 24th. For more information call the library at 487-5880 or email Holly the director at director@pittsfieldpubliclibrary.org. |
